I’ve been painting in gouache a lot lately. Since plein air painting will be off the menu for quite a while, I’ve looked through old vacation photos and use those as a subject. I have a lot of material from recent years! I quite like this process, since a lot of memories of great places and travels are activated while I’m painting. And I’m learning a lot about landscape painting (and gouache!). Sitting at home with very few options to leave the house is less terrible this way.
I’m also filming new bird painting videos for the update of my bird drawing class, so that will come very soon, too! If you want to see a specific bird painting, you can still let me know, I’ll probably add some of them as free videos on Youtube if they don’t make it in the class update.
I hope you all are doing okay!
Here’s the gouache landscape painting tutorial:

A very nice painting. I love all the tips you gave along the way too. I have not really worked with gouache (except for in one class)and it inspired me to give them a try again. Thank you.
Thank you, Edith! Enjoy your painting time!
Julia, thank you for this posting, I would very much enjoy seeing more landscape painting videos. Wonderful to see the build-up of color and detail and to listen to your accompanying commentary.
Thank you Laurie, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I’m already working on more landscape tutorials! 🙂
