Here’s one more mushroom sketching video that didn’t fit into the class anymore. It shows the sketching process for a classic brown capped mushroom, and I also demonstrate how to add light reflections at the end.
Over here, we had a bit of snow yesterday. It’s already vanished, but that was definitely the end of all mushrooms that might have been left on the ground. In this dark and cold season, it’s a real challenge to go out for anything, not just sketching. So I’m mainly working through my photo archive right now, and hoping for brighter days (and times).
Julia,
Thank you so much for your posts! I really enjoy seeing how you work with the brush and paints. I’m a beginner at both sketching and watercolors and I appreciate how clearly you explain and demonstrate what you’re doing. These mushrooms are very fun and inspire me to try too!
No snow where I live in Northern California, however the nights are cold and our version of winter is settling in. I think of winter as the season for reflection. I’m glad you have made a good photo collection to work from.
with gratitude and best wishes,

You’re welcome Lisa, I’m happy to hear you get something from my demos. I’m sure there are still some mushrooms to be found in California. 🙂
I like the thought of winter being a season for reflection – I often use the end of the year for that too.
Thank you for sharing your technics. I thoroughly enjoy watercolor and love seeing how other artist manipulate their colors and transpose them into works of art.
You’re welcome Millie! Watercolor is a great medium indeed, probably my favorite!
Julia, I didn’t receive the mushroom class. Could you send it again?
Cheers,
Donna Kristjan
Hi Donna, I’ve sent you an email about it, hope everything works now!
