In the past weeks I’ve been working on an update for my bird drawing class. I’ve added 7 new bird painting tutorials to the class. You requested most of them like the goldfinch, red cardinal, mallard, woodpecker and waxwing. Although the class focuses on drawing songbirds, I’ve also added two tutorials that feature raptor birds: a goshawk painting and a barn owl painting. I’ve also included a quick cheatsheet for checking on bird anatomy!
I have prepared shorter Youtube videos for some of these tutorials. This way you can follow along and get a little appetizer of what will be a longer tutorial in the class. I will release them in the coming weeks, and I hope you’ll enjoy the videos! Here’s the first one, featuring a woodpecker:
If you can’t see the video above, watch it here.
The update is free for existing students. I haven’t made any changes to the current pay-what-you-want pricing model for new students (by the way, thanks again for everyone’s support!!).
Let me know if there is anything else bird-related that interests you. I will consider adding it to the class!
The class is available on Gumroad (with pay-what-you-want pricing) or through Skillshare.
Dear Julie,
Thank you so much for the additional bird paintings you added to the class and the PDF’s, too. You are so generous! Thank you for adding the mallard. It is a beautiful sketch and I appreciate your narrative, too. I live on a river in Michigan and they are a part of my daily life. I can’t wait to get back painting the rest of the birds you added to my sketchbook.
Melanie from Michigan
You’re welcome Melanie! Say hello to the mallards from me, and happy sketching!
