Sketching summer flowers

My new class Drawing Ideas for Summer has just opened and one of the things I enjoyed most when filming were all the beautiful field flowers I saw and got to sketch. I could literally do this all day long, and I’m happy we have a few fields here that still have these “weeds” growing next to them, plants like red poppy, chamomile and clover. Right now it’s raining a lot, so I was lucky that I got to explore all these beautiful fields while it was sunny and dry.

Here’s an outtake video from the course:

I’ll show how I approach adding differently shaped flowers to my page layout, and how I sketch the individual plants in pencil, colored pencil, and watercolor.

The class will include a demo for the full page with more flowers, as well as many other sketching topics – insects, trees, landscapes and animal maps – over two hours of video in total, all about what and how to sketch nature in summer.

The class is available from my website.
