I’m very moved, thank you all!

I’m very moved by all the wonderful comments you left on my last post about the blog anniversary, and by all the emails you sent, thank you all so, so much! It’s really hard to put it into words how I feel.

I’ve tried to respond to as many messages as I can, because I really want to connect with each of you – there are just so many lovely wishes and shared experiences. So many that I struggle to reply to them all. Hence this post. I want you to know: I’ve read each single message, I see you, this is so heart-warming, thank you, thank you.

As I already said, none of what I do would be possible without you, or it would be much less fun and more lonely. I feel very honored that you are all making space in your day for my ramblings and sketches, and I try to make them as valuable and interesting as I can, while keeping the marketing bits (that I still have to do from time to time) to a minimum.

I never would have thought that I could gather a small community around myself and my work, especially since I’m really quite the shy person. Thank you internet! And what an interesting, passionate, creative and positive community this is.

I think all of us here love the same things: nature and art, and it’s amazing we can celebrate this here together. I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m so grateful you all are here, and that we can share this with each other: our nature and art explorations, and the curious findings we make every day.

Before I get even more sentimental, I’ll just keep this short. I’m very excited about all that will come next on this sketching adventure, and about sharing it here with you.

Thank you all!

  1. I find your posts very inspirational because they are so helpful and “normal” without being overwhelming. This I find is very important to me because I have a busy life but painting and drawing are high on my list of activities. Thank you very much for all that you do. Best wishes, Angela.

  2. I enjoy your blogs very much. I’m a watercolorist and love to paint landscapes. I find your nature sketchbook with shared techniques very instructional and inspiring! Keeping a nature journal/sketchbook appeals to my love of nature, and is a great way to record my experiences for my own pleasure as well as for use in future paintings. It’s also a way to improve my skills as a painter.
In this fast paced, noisy world, you bring a gentle and peaceful approach to sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for what you do!
    Enjoy your day!
    Chris

  3. Dear Julia, I’ve been following you for about 4 years now, I’ve had a health issue and because of my dizziness and my green headaches, I can’t focus on a piece of paper anymore so when I can, I watch your videos and read your blog, I love learning and I love seeing your process. you have such a nice way about you, always explaining everything so thoroughly. I haven’t been a big commenter because I have trouble being on screens and the computer, my health issues don’t allow for much, but I get great joy out of your work and hearing your voice. I enjoy your newsletters. happy anniversary and thanks for making me feel less lonely as well! God bless you!

  4. Julia,
You are so deserving of all this and more. I love your blog, and your classes so much that I joined Skillshare over a year ago and have learned so much from you. I look forward to whatever classes you teach in the future. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

  6. I find your work fascinating. I love your subject matter. The fact that a busy professional takes the time to respond to an amateur, like me, is wonderful.

  7. I am looking forward to retiring and learning how to draw and maybe recreate what I see in nature – it may not happen until later in 2024, but I look forward to settling in and learning through you Julie. I live alone, so I already indulge my walking, photography and blogging hobbies, so what is one more hobby added?
