This week I have a video about drawing with the dip nib. Because you actually can not only do your lettering with these little steel nibs, they’re also really great for drawing and my favorite tools. Bonus video: a speed painting of food in gouache just because it’s fun to do and fun to watch.

In this video I’m demonstrating how to draw with dip nibs. I show different types of nibs & techniques and give a few general tips (cleaning, maintenance, selecting nibs). If you have asked yourself how to use your calligraphy nibs differently, here’s the answer.

I’m having so much fun with these little paintings and want to share the process. Most of you know I’m obsessed with painting food images, so here is one of my favorite pasta recipes ever: Pasta alla Norma. I actually included an illustration of it in my book Fresh & Fabulous Vegetarian. Here you can see how I paint the ingredients in gouache.
